Do you want to discover how to use data and algorithms for boosting your creativity? Or take your stories to the next level using data science?
Join us this Thursday, May 3rd from 6 PM to 8 PM at Storytek’s Creative Hub, Parda 6, 4th floor for an eye-opening meetup with award-winning film business journalist, data aficionado and editorial director or Slated – the next generation film financing platform – Colin Brown.
Colin Brown is currently the Managing Partner of International Operations for MAD Solutions, the innovative pan-Arab independent film and TV distribution and production studio that also organizes the Arab Cinema Center at key film festivals and markets around the world and teacher at New York University’s Stern School of Business and NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where he works closely with both its Cinema Research Institute and Production Lab as a board member and adviser.
Colin has also been a long-standing member of the senior team of Slated, the film financing and networking platform that matches accredited investors with filmmaking teams. As Slated’s Editorial Director, Colin oversaw the creation of informational tools and educational resources that bridge the communication gap between the investment community and filmmakers closing deals. He is the author of the “Filmonomics” blog and podcast for the website and is a strategic advisor in Slated’s international expansion plans.
Prior to joining Slated, Colin was most closely identified with “Screen International”, the trade publication considered to be the leading business authority in the international film industry. As Editor-in-Chief, a position he held for a decade, Colin played a major part in transforming the title into a cross-media publication known throughout the film world. He launched the “Screen Daily” news service in 2000 and presided over the publication’s push into film financing conferences targeted at global deal-makers.
Colin has been Contributing Editor at “CNBC Business”, the international magazine read by more than 670,000 executives each month, where he spent three years writing across on a range of topics including film, media, technology, start-ups, cities, hotels, cleantech and the collaborative workplace. Colin’s film business articles have appeared in numerous publications including “The Guardian”, “Conde Nast Traveler”, London’s “Evening Standard”, “The International Herald Tribune” and “Filmmaker Magazine”.
Colin served a longstanding industry consultant for the Dubai International Film Festival. As a film critic, Colin has been invited on numerous film festival juries including that of the Sundance Film Festival – where he helped judge the world cinema dramatic competition in 2009.
We look forward to seeing you for an inspiring night on future of storytelling! Let’s make #futureofcontent happen together!
